CRANFORD, NJ — The National Weather Service is predicting a wintery mix of rain and sleet on Friday in Westfield.

Rain is expected to begin on Thursday and continue into Friday when it will mix with sleet, and possibly snow. Temperatures are expected to drop to a low of 32 degrees Thursday night and then a low of 16 degrees Friday night.

Rain. High near 45. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday Night
Rain. Low around 32. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Friday
Rain, freezing rain and sleet, possibly mixed with snow before 4pm, then snow and freezing rain likely, possibly mixed with sleet. Temperature falling to around 30 by 5pm. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday Night
Snow showers and freezing rain likely before 11pm, then a slight chance of snow showers between 11pm and 1am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 16. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
