Heat Advisory In Effect For Union County Tuesday
Temperatures are expected to reach the high 90s this week in Union County, according to the National Weather Service.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — With temperatures reaching the high 90s this week, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Union County.
The advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. on Wednesday. The NWS says hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.
According to the NWS, Union County towns will see a high of 93 degrees on Tuesday, as well as a high of 96 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

A heat advisory is issued by the NWS when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.

The NWS says seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk.
Homes without air conditioning can be much hotter than outdoor temperatures. The NWS advises people to use air conditioning to stay cool at home or go to a place that has air conditioning.
People are also advised to check on vulnerable friends, family members and neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
In cases of heat stroke, people are advised to call 9-11.
