High Heat Advisory For Cranford Over Next 5 Days
Cranford Police advise residents to limit their outdoor activity over the next few days, as temperatures reach the high 90s this week.
CRANFORD, NJ — The Cranford Office of Emergency Management is advising residents to limit their outdoor activity over the next several days, as the heat index is expected to exceed 100 degrees.
Residents who would like a break from the heat are reminded that the Cranford Community Center at 220 Walnut Avenue is open Tuesday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The Office of Emergency Management advises that residents follow these steps to avoid heat-related illness:

- Dress for the Weather - wear lightweight, light colored clothes.
- Stay Hydrated - drink plenty of water.
- Slow Down - reduce or avoid strenuous activity.
- Check on elderly neighbors.
- Never leave children in a car!
- Call 9-1-1 if someone exhibits symptoms of Heat Stroke
- Remember Sunscreen!

- Make sure your pet has plenty of water.
- Make sure your pet has shade to avoid direct sunlight.
- Never leave your pet in a car.
A heat advisory for Union County is already in effect, and is expected to continue through the weekend.
