Loaded Firearm Recovered In Cranford After Arrest Of Essex Co. Man: Police
Cranford Police arrested an East Orange man on Sunday night and found a loaded gun in his possession.
CRANFORD, NJ — An Essex County man was found to be in possession of a loaded gun after Cranford Police conducted a motor vehicle on stop Sunday night, according to police.
Cranford Officer Christopher Gross saw a white 2016 BMW with equipment violation and multiple seatbelt violations in the area of Centennial Avenue near Hayes Streetat around 7:33 p.m., police said.
During the motor vehicle stop, Gross saw that one passenger in the back seat, later identified as 28-year-old Anthony Moore of East Orange, was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

Gross also found that Moore had an outstanding an outstanding traffic warrant out of East Orange. After officers arrested Moore, a search of his person led to the discovery of a loaded .38 Special Smith & Wesson revolver, police said.
Moore was charged with second-degree possession of a firearm, second-degree certain persons not to possess firearms, fourth-degree possession of a defaced firearm and failure to wear a seatbelt, according to police.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a seatbelt and improper display of license plates.
At the time of this arrest, Moore was awaiting commitment to the Union County Jail pending a detention hearing.
