Loaded Gun, Drugs Found During Traffic Stop In Cranford

Three people were arrested.

CRANFORD, NJ — Three people were arrested on Wednesday after a loaded gun and drugs were found during a traffic stop along Raritan Road, Cranford Police said.

Jermiah Jones, 37 of Irvington, Lamont Butler, 32 of Newark, and Abraham Watson, 19 of Newark, were charged with possession of a firearm and possession of prescription narcotics.

At around 12:05 a.m., authorities stopped a 2019 Jeep Cherokee in the area of Coleman Avenue for multiple vehicle violations. Officers found a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun and prescription drugs inside the SUV.

All three adults were taken into custody without conflict and committed to the Union County Jail.
