Man Found Guilty In Shooting Death Of Elizabeth Resident
After a months-long manhunt, he was arrested on February 1, 2022, in Newark by U.S. Marshals.

ELIZABETH, NJ - The man charged with murder in the shooting death of an Elizabeth man in 2021 has been found guilty.
On Aug. 4, 2021, Elizabeth Police responded to Jefferson Park for a report of shots fired and found 26-year-old Archeley Brizard dead in his car from multiple gunshot wounds. After a months-long manhunt, Jefferson Louis, 28 of Elizabeth, was arrested on February 1, 2022, in Newark by U.S. Marshals.
Patch has reached out to the Union County Prosecutor's Office for further details on the details of the arrest and if any motive has been found. At this time, it is unclear if the two men knew each other.

Louis was found guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose on Friday, Aug. 15, after a four-week trial and a full day of jury deliberation.
He now faces up to life ("effectively up to 75 years," according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office) in New Jersey State Prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 3.
