Update In NJ Gym Crash That Killed 1, Injured 3
The driver of an SUV crashed into the building Tuesday afternoon.
ELIZABETH, NJ - Criminal charges are not being filed against a 69-year-old woman who drove a SUV into a Planet Fitness on Thursday, leaving one person dead and another three injured.
The driver and the other two people hurt are now out of the hospital, according to the City of Elizabeth. The family of the 72-year-old man who died while working out is asking that his name not be released.
The man had been working out near the front window of the gym at the time when the SUV crashed into the building at around 12:30 p.m.

The gym, located at 647 Newark Ave., is still closed as of Wednesday afternoon. The business is awaiting clearance from an engineer with no set time for reopening.
