Several Drunk Driving Arrests Made By Cranford Police In Recent Weeks

Cranford Police arrested several people for driving while intoxicated and possessing illegal drugs, according to a recent police blotter.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police arrested several people for driving while intoxicated or possessing illegal substances in recent weeks, according their recent arrest blotter.

In the past two weeks, Cranford Police arrested four people for drunk driving, as well as two others for possession of substances like crack-cocaine and heroine.

A 33-year-old woman was arrested following a car accident that occurred on the 100 block of Forest Avenue on March 23. Patrolman Michael Gamba arrested the woman for driving while intoxicated. In addition, she was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.

Then on Saturday, April 9, police found a man on Centennial Avenue was driving while intoxicated. It was also determined that a motor vehicle accident had occurred. One of the drivers was arrested for drunk driving and refusal to submit breath testing.

He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, careless driving, and delaying traffic.

Again, on Sunday, April 10, police stopped a 1995 tan Chevrolet for equipment and moving violations and found that the man was driving while intoxicated. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, failure to maintain lane, unsafe lane change, improper display of license plates and failure to signal turn.

In addition, police made two arrests — one on March 31 and the other on April 5 — in which drivers were stopped for moving or equipment violations and Controlled Dangerous Substances were discovered in their cars. These drugs included crack-cocaine, heroine and methamphetamine among others.
