Shelter In Place At Cranford High School Lifted: UPDATE

The Superintendent announced that the high school transitioned to a shelter in place due to a threatening tweet. Police are investigating.

CRANFORD, NJ — Superintendent Scott Rubin announced Thursday afternoon that Cranford High School transitioned a shelter in place due to a threatening tweet involving the school.

In an update sent at 2:30 p.m., Rubin said the shelter in place was lifted and the school will run a regular dismissal. The shelter in place was put into effect after a tweet was posted earlier Thursday afternoon, with the user threatening to "shoot up" Cranford High School.

Cranford Police identified the source of the post, according to Rubin's update, and will conduct a follow-up investigation. However, Rubin said the threat was determined not to be credible.

"We cannot thank the police enough for all they do to help keep the school community as well as the community at large safe," Rubin said.
