Strong Winds Expected In Cranford, Police Warn

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until Friday morning, expecting strong winds throughout the night.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police Department announced a wind advisory for the township, warning of strong winds late Thursday night.

The police sent a Nixle alert early Thursday morning, announcing that southwest winds are expected to travel between 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. The advisory has been issued until 10 a.m. on Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, the strong winds are expected to last from 11 p.m. Thursday evening until Friday morning.

The wind could impact unsecured objects and result in scattered tree limbs, and a few trees and power lines could be blow down. A few power outages are possible and travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, according to the NWS.

Cranford Police advise residents to use extra caution when driving and to secure any outdoor objects.

The NWS predicts that these winds will affect portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut and southeast New York.
