EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?
Michael has a 4.5 grade point average and maintains a course load full of honors and AP classes at Saint Joseph high school in Metuchen. In addition to his academics, Michael has been active in every aspect of student life and has taken leadership positions in faith-based organizations, student government, and community service organizations, all while performing at the highest level in sports and serving as team captain for two years. He has been recognized by many groups including the alumni association of West Point, the Edison Rotary, and was selected by the American Legion of Metuchen to serve as their delegate to NJ Boys State. He will continue to serve as a member of the US military after he completes his undergraduate education at West Point.
