EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Summer camps are much sought-after across the state, so this should come as good news for the township and all parents and guardians.

The East Brunswick Day Camp recently maintained its accreditation from the American Camp Association (ACA) for the sixth consecutive time.

The ACA is the only independent accrediting organization reviewing camp operations across the country.

These ACA accreditations occur every three to five years and every camp must meet over 250 rigorous standards to keep this designation.

Mayor Brad Cohen took the opportunity to congratulate everyone who worked hard to maintaining the ACA accreditation for the 6th consecutive review.

“Our ACA designation means that as parents you can be confident that when you take your kids to an East Brunswick Summer Camp, they’re in a safe healthy environment with best in class – staff, management, program design, facilities, and aquatic activities. And that is something that as Mayor of this township – I am very proud of," Cohen said.

Jeff Litt, Recreation Coordinator/Day Camps said it takes a lot of hard work to run the townships well-love summer camp program.

“With approximately 750 campers each summer, it takes a lot of time, hard work, and dedication to run our Township Summer Camp program. I’m incredibly proud of both the team at the Recreation Department that helps support the Camp program, as well as the Seasonal Leadership Team and Counselors that return each year to help give every camper their best summer ever,” Litt said.

“I love hearing from the campers at the end of each summer, saying that they don’t want camp to end. And, then getting the same feedback from their caregivers too. It makes me feel good knowing that our East Brunswick Day Camp is an Accredited program that truly gives the campers and their families a wonderful summer camp experience.”

ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to ensure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation.
