East Brunswick Police Join Students On National Walk to School Day

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The first Wednesday in October is National Walk to School Day. The goal of this day is to raise awareness for the health, community and environmental benefits.

On Wednesday, several members of the East Brunswick Police Department walked with children from each of the elementary schools in a celebration highlighting the importance of safe, active travel.

Cops joined the children and their families as they walked to school on a bright day.

"We hope everyone who participated in #WalkToSchoolDay had fun and enjoyed the environmental and health benefits of walking to school," EB Police said on Facebook.

Organized by the Partnership for a Walkable America, Walk to School Day in the USA began in 1997 as a one-day event aimed at building awareness for the need for walkable communities.
