East Brunswick Residents Sound Off on Safety Issues

We asked Patch readers to share their biggest safety concerns in East Brunswick. Here's what they'd change.

East Brunswick, NJ- Summer’s nearly here, and with each walk in the park, day at the pool and backyard BBQ comes the risk of snakebites, drowning and fires, but don’t worry! There’s no reason to stay cooped up inside all season.

Patch put together a list of summer safety tips to keep you safe and having fun while the weather’s warm. Make sure to give snakes their distance and always swim with a buddy to stay carefree during the dog days.

Keeping these tips in mind, there are other possible dangers that affect East Brunswick residents year round.

We asked Patch readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

  • "The pothole in front of my house"
  • "Heroin"
  • "Route 18 & Route 1 near NJ Turnpike Exit 9 Entrance andExit has been under construction for 25+ years"
  • "Cranbury Road overpass riddled with potholes, needs to be repaved not more band aid patches."
  • "Real answer: the power grid is awful. Power outages of at least once every other 2-3 months that last a couple hours is much higher than should be the norm."
  • "Texting/speeding/driving; not enough police to cover the amount of people putting people's lives at risk."
  • "Tailgaters"
  • "Main Street and River Road where no one follows the speed limit and don't stop when school buses are loading and unloading."
