New Members Take Oath Of Office, BOE President Elected In East Brunswick
The annual reorganization meeting was held on Thursday evening.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Months after they were elected, four new members took the oath of office for the East Brunswick Board of Education.
The annual reorganization meeting was held on Thursday where the new members swore their oaths and a vote for the leadership of the Board was taken.
Assistant Superintendent Bernardo Giuliana administered the oath of office to Dr. Wilbur Pan, Anna Braun, Louis Figueroa, and Jaime Falco. The new members were joined by their families.

After the oath-taking ceremony, it was time to elect the new BOE president and vice president.
Former BOE president Laurie Lachs nominated Heather Guas for the role. Guas had served as vice president. Lachs praised Guas saying she put her student's mental and physical well-being “front and center in every action” and displayed great leadership skills.

Meanwhile, Figueroa nominated Tim Cummings for the role of president saying he has been instrumental in providing counseling and tutoring services to children in need and also overseen the building of a school – skills that are currently needed in East Brunswick.
The vote went 6-3 in favor of Guas.
Cummings then nominated Figueroa for the role of BOE vice president. He cited Figueroa’s experience of working at the district for his suitability.
Guas on the other hand nominated Liwu Hong for the role appreciating his “steadfast commitment” and “commitment to learning.”
Hong was elected to the role with 6-3 votes.
