Hammarskjold's Relay for Life (VIDEO)
Hammarskjold Middle School students did their part in the fight against cancer.
They marched. They raised money. They decorated and in the end, they got outside and did what so many before them have done—made a stand against cancer.
On Friday, June 15, ended two weeks of hard work by holding its own Relay for Life and pep rally. For the month of June, students have been donating spare change to their house buckets for a penny drive and selling luminaries and other items to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Students also made posters to line the school hallways and on Friday, participated in relay events, games, and a Survivors Walk that included teachers and students whose lives have been touched by cancer.
The event is modeled after the larger event held by the township, but the day took on it’s own identity as students put their distinctive spin on the day.
