EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — In light of “calls for action” on social media on Friday due to the Israel-Hamas War, the East Brunswick Police Department will be bolstering patrols around 'sensitive areas' of the township.

In Israel, more than 2,800 people have been wounded and at least 1,200 people – including civilians and children – have been killed by Hamas forces as of Thursday afternoon, reports say.

Meanwhile, Palestinian authorities say at least 1,500 people have been killed in Gaza and another 6,000 have been wounded including civilians and children.

"We understand this conflict has caused anxiety and fear. However, we want to emphasize our commitment to the safety of our community," LoSacco said.
"We are also aware of concerns raised by recent social media posts and reports of a call for an uprising tomorrow. We have been engaged and working alongside our federal, state, county, and local partners to gather and share real-time intelligence.

Currently, there are no known credible threats to New Jersey or the local community, LoSacco said. However, out of an abundance of caution, the East Brunswick Police Department has increased security in and around sensitive locations throughout the Township.

"The East Brunswick Police Department remains committed to the protection and safety of our community. As this situation evolves, we will send pertinent updates as needed," LoSacco said.
We urge the community to remain vigilant, and if you "see something, say something." Please report any suspicious activity by calling 732-390-6901 (or 9-1-1 if there is an emergency)."
