Magnet Schools In East Brunswick Accepting Applications For 2024-25

For the East Brunswick Magnet School, interviews are required. Open houses have also been scheduled.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – Middlesex County Magnet Schools, including the one in East Brunswick is currently accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year.

The Magnet Schools are free public high schools open to all Middlesex County residents, and offer more than 30 career majors and a rigorous academic curriculum.

“The Magnet Schools are an amazing resource for Middlesex County residents,” Superintendent of Schools Jorge E. Diaz said. “Our goal is to prepare our students to be the workforce of the future while broadening their horizons with a challenging academic program.”

The deadline to apply for East Brunswick Magnet School is April 1. Interviews are required, and School of the Arts majors require an audition.

According to the County, there were more than 1,800 applicants for the current school year, about a 15 percent increase over the previous year, with 575 students accepted.

“We interview the whole student. We’re looking for what their passion is, what their interests are,” Assistant Superintendent of School Jeffrey Bicsko said.

“Grades are important, but they’re not the only thing. We encourage students and parents to attend an open house.”

Here are the dates for the open house in East Brunswick:

  • Saturday, Oct. 14 — East Brunswick Magnet School and Woodbridge Academy Magnet School
  • Saturday, Dec. 2 — East Brunswick Magnet School
  • Saturday, Jan. 20 — East Brunswick Magnet School

The application process can be started on the district’s website at www.mcmsnj.net/admissions.
