Republican Candidates Bow Out
Republican candidates for Township Council Synnove Bakke and Jim Johnson are no longer running in November's election.

Republican candidates for Township Council, Synnove Bakke and Jim Johnson, sent a letter to the township clerk’s office last week asking that their names be removed from the ballot for this year’s election.
The husband and wife team had been seeking four-year terms on the council.
Bakke said Monday afternoon that the decision was made because of work related reasons.

Mayoral candidate Republican Eugene DeMarco is still on the ballot.
On the Democrat side, incumbents Nancy Pinkin and Denise Contrino and Mayor David Stahl are still seeking re-election.

According to the East Brunswick Township Clerk’s office, the Republicans have until Sept. 13 to name two replacement candidates if they want them to appear on the November ballot.
