Another NJ Golfer Struck By Lightning, Suffered Cardiac Arrest
A retired Morris County Sheriff's Office Captain and EMT was on the scene to assist the lightning strike victim, authorities said.
FLORHAM PARK, NJ — A man was in critical condition after being struck by lightning on a Morris County golf course this weekend, according to police.
According to the authorities, the man was struck on Sunday, around 6 p.m., at Pinch Brook Golf Course in Florham Park.
Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after the strike was reported. The 36-year-old golfer collapsed when he was struck and suffered from a cardiac arrest, police said.

Witnesses told police that the victim lost consciousness and stopped breathing, prompting several bystanders to attempt CPR. One of the bystanders aiding the man was Mark Chiarolanza, retired Sheriff’s Officer captain and long-time Florham Park First Aid Squad member.
First responders took the golfer, whose identity has not yet been released, to a nearby hospital for treatment. He was eventually transferred to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, where he was in critical condition, according to Florham Park Police Lieutenant Brian Ford.

The man’s current condition is not known at this time.
“We commend the quick response and immediate life-saving efforts by not only trained medical personnel in the right place at the right time, but also civilians just wanting to help to save the life of a stranger,” Lt. Ford said.
This incident comes just over a month after 28-year-old Simon Mariani died following a lightning strike at a Sussex County golf course.
