Marketing Campaign Launches for Athletic Referendum

From public appearances to an 8-page informational booklet, Hanover Park Regional High School District and Board of Education prepares to rally residents to cast a vote.

As the referendum vote for $17.5 in athletic improvements for Whippany Park and Hanover Park High Schools nears, the Board of Education wants to rally residents to cast their vote.

"We're putting together some marketing strategies," Superintendent Carol Grossi said as she showed the board a tri-fold brochure with generated photos pf what the athletic fields will look like once completed.

"We also have an eight-page booklet, paid for by the athletic boosters," Grossi said, designed my Maria Carrell. Part of the booklet discusses the academic, testing and athletic accomplishments of district students, and outlines the need for improvements.

The district also has several display poster-boards which they intend to install in the school offices and the gyms, so residents will learn more about the proposed project. Another display board will be in reserve for community appearances.

"We have photos of what the fields actually look like now," Grossi said, "and what they will look like."

Grossi asked board members to host receptions in their home and to make any public appearances they felt could be useful in both registering voters and educating the public about the project.

Board members also discussed possibly putting a QR code on the brochures which would take people to the district's Fields Project page, which has answers to frequently asked questions, architectural designs, photos of current field conditions, and information about voter registration and absentee ballots also available.

Voting drives are underway for of-age students at both Hanover Park and Whippany Park High Schools.

The vote is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 12. Polling places are yet to be determined.
