East Hanover Teen Performs at White House For Thanksgiving TV Special

Six Morris County teens join counterparts from around the country for special event in Washington D.C.

Amanda Fletcher has plenty to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.

The East Hanover teen, along with five other high school students from Morris County, recently traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in the “Broadway at the White House” program on Nov. 16.

The program was part of an all-day symposium on careers in theater. The event was filmed by the TLC network and hosted by Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Morrison with special guest First Lady Michelle Obama.

The special follows about 40 students from public arts high schools and after school arts programs – the Morris County teens came as part of the Mayo PAC’s performing arts center in Morristown – from around the country who participated in workshops including acting, directing, hair/make-up/costume design, music composition and musical theatre.

The special will air at 8 p.m. Nov. 26 on the TLC Network.
