FEMA to Help Less than 1 in 5 Sandy Applicants

The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced it will give assistance to fewer than 20 percent of Florham Park residents and fewer than 15 percent of East Hanover residents who applied for help recovering from Superstorm Sandy.

According to a spreadsheet from the government agency, 250 homeowners and renters applied for assistance after the historic storm.

E. Hanover School Tax Increase to be Under 2%

Superintendent Dr. Joseph Ricca said the 2013-14 school budget for East Hanover schools will include a tax levy increase "well under the 2 percent cap."

Ricca will present the budget at a public meeting Monday before the public and the Board of Education. 

Florham Park Budget in the Works

A resolution authorizing a temporary municipal budget was unanimously approved by the Borough Council at the governing body's most recent meeting while a formal 2013 spending plan is prepared for introduction.

Ridgedale Sidewalk Replacement Cost Increases

The cost of a sidewalk replacement project for Ridgedale Avenue in Florham Park from the borough driveway to Village Road turned out to be more expensive than originally planned.

The governing body at its meeting Thursday approved a resolution authorizing a change order to a bid award contract with Midwest Construction Inc., agreeing to pay $33,808.76 more than the original contract price of $153,649.19.
