Florham Park ATM Rigged By Theft Ring: Report

Four men used counterfeit ATM cards at a Florham Park bank on or about May 31, 2015, the Daily Record reported.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J.– Twelve men were charged Wednesday for their roles in allegedly installing hidden devices and cameras on PNC and Bank of America ATMs in Florham Park and across New Jersey to steal over $428,000, the Daily Record reported.

One of the men, Alin Carabus, 42, admitted he was part of a vast “ATM skimming” scheme that stole bank account information by installing secret card-reading devices on ATMs throughout New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Florida and elsewhere, said U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.

According to Fishman ,Carabus and others then secretly installed devices onto bank ATMs and removed them a few days later after they had recorded customer bank account

The men allegedly installed the equipment between March 2015 and July 2016 in an attempt to illegally obtain customer account numbers and personal identification numbers, according to the Daily Record, citing Fishman.

Four of the men worked together at a Florham Park Bank of America on or about May 31 of last year, using counterfeit ATM cards encoded with stolen account information, the Daily Record reported.
