Florham Park Councilman Hopes to Unseat Interim Mayor
Germershausen will challenge Taylor as either an independent candidate or GOP write-in, report says.
A Florham Park councilman will challenge the interim mayor in November, the Florham Park Eagle reported.
Councilman Charles Germershausen said he would run as either a Republican write-in candidate or an independent in a bid to unseat Mayor Mark Taylor, who was appointed earlier this month after the resignation of former Mayor R. Scott Eveland .
“I’ve been here longer than (Mark),” Germershausen told the newspaper. “I have almost 12 years on the council, three of those years as council president. I have no hidden agendas.”

“I’ve heard from a lot of people who want changes in town.”
Taylor, who became acting mayor once Eveland resigned, had filed to run for re-election to his council seat, but instead seeks election to the remainder of the mayor's term.

If Germershausen chooses to contest the mayoral seat as an independent, he will have to submit a petition with 100 signatures to the Morris County Board of Elections by Sept. 3, the paper reported. As a Republican, voters merely need to write him in.
The Borough Council also recently appointed Councilman Thomas Michalowski to fill the seat of Councilman David Wikstrom, who resigned.
