Florham Park Councilman Seeking Mayor's Seat as Independent

Candidate said he'd rather see name on the ballot.

Florham Park Councilman Charles Germershausen will be seeking election to the mayor's seat as an independent for in November as opposed to embarking on a write-in campaign, according to NJ.com.

The Republican councilman will be challenging Interim Mayor Mark Taylor. Taylor was appointed interim mayor in April after former Mayor R. Scott Eveland resigned. While he filed petitions to run for re-election for his council seat, Taylor will now run to fulfill the remainder of the mayor's term.

Last week, the Florham Park Eagle reported Germershausen would either run as a write-in candidate or independent. The 12-year councilman has served for three years as council president and served on the borough first aid squad for 38 years before retiring.
