Florham Park Kept in Dark, Opens Charging Stations

'To our knowledge, all of Florham Park remains without power,' police said.

Locations for Florham Park residents to get information, warm up and plug in their electronics have opened around the borough as the municipality remained without electricity since Tropical Storm Sandy hit on Monday.

A station to charge their electronics and get storm-related information opened in the Holy Family parking lot, and the firehouse on Brooklake Road is open 24 hours a day as a warming and charging station.

The station at Holy Family opens at 8 a.m. Friday.

"To our knowledge, all of Florham Park remains without power," Florham Park police said Thursday evening on its Facebook page. "We do not have any new information or restoration updates from JCP&L. We will release any information we get as soon as it is received. JCP&L continues to work on substations and infrastructure."

Kings on Columbia Turnpike is open and selling non-perishables. Kings website said limited fresh food products are available at its Morristown store, 191 South Street.

Borough resident Bob Farrell picked up ice from the Florham Park Kings on Wednesday.

Tropical Storm Sandy was unlike any storm he has been through before.

"There's just so much damage," he said. "It's not hard to imagine why it's going to take a while for us to get our power back."

Florham Park schools and Hanover Park High School remain closed on Friday.
