Florham Park Mayor, Councilman Resign
Mayor R. Scott Eveland, Councilman David Wikstrom have resigned from the borough's governing body, the borough clerk said.

Two elected officials in Florham Park have resigned from the borough's governing body.
Florham Park Mayor R. Scott Eveland and Councilman David Wikstrom both resigned, the borough clerk said Monday.
Eveland told the Florham Park Eagle he resigned Monday because he has a new job as vice principal at Bright Street Academy in Jersey City and to be with family. Eveland said Wikstrom resigned Wednesday for personal reasons, according to the report.

"It's a loss to Florham Park," Councilman Charles Malone said of the resignations. "They both served the town admirably."
Councilman Charles Germershausen said Monday evening he had not yet been notified by borough officials about the resignations, but said the Florham Park Republican Committee emailed Republican committee members about Wikstrom's resignation. The commitee was expected to discuss the resignations at a meeting Monday evening.

Germershausen said borough law calls for the council president, currently Mark Taylor, to serve as acting mayor in the mayor's absence. A message was left for Taylor on Monday.
Eveland and Wikstrom could not immediately be reached for comment.
Wikstrom's and Taylor's terms expire at the end of the year. Eveland's term as mayor was up at the end of 2015.
Monday afternoon was the deadline to file to run in the June primary election. Taylor and Thomas B. Michalowski filed to run as Republicans. John Upton and Peter Nicolas filed to run as Democrats.
Florham Park's seven-member governing body is all-Republican.
