Hanover Park Dance Team Readies for InterNationals

In its second year, the team placed third or higher in all its competitions and was invited to compete at an international competition at Disney World in March.

In only two years, the Hanover Park High School Dance Team has made some amazing strides.

After they were approved for competitions, the team won third place out of twelve teams in the Universal Dance Association (UDA) competition in South Brunswick with their workout-themed hip hop routine.

The team then went on to win First and Overall Grand Champion at the AmeriCheer 2013 City Lights Championship. Their score was so high they were invited to compete at InterNationals dance competition at Disney World in March.

The team is coached by Lisa Black and Andrea Vecchione. Members consists of:

  • Prya Butani
  • Amanda Cassidy
  • Gianna DiStasio
  • Lisa LoPinto
  • Nicole Tassielli
  • Bonnie Zwigard
  • Gianna Tricola, captain
  • and Dominique Calabro, captain, who placed sixth with her Whitney Houston jazz dance solo.

The dance team is looking for new members since they will graduate soloist and captain Dominique Calabro this year. Black asks any current or incoming students to try out in the spring.
