East Hanover Man Accused of Molesting 5-Year-Old Girl

An East Hanover man has been charged with molesting the 5-year-old daughter of a former girlfriend.

The woman, who lives in Sherman, Conn., called Connecticut child welfare officials after her daughter told her in July that Mario Tiberi had allegedly improperly touched the child over a period of several months, according to the Danbury News Times.

Although the mother had ended her romantic involvement with Tiberi, he was still staying at the home from three to five times a week during the time when the alleged abuse occurred, NewsTimes.com reported.

Tiberi was charged with first-degree sexual assault, illegal sexual contact and risk of injury to a minor, the report said.
