New Police Officers Welcomed to East Hanover
Four new officers joined the East Hanover Police Department, and two current members were promoted Monday.
The East Hanover Township Council welcomed four new probationary patrolmen to the ranks of the local police department Monday.
Michael T. Liotta, Jeffrey A. Della Piazza, Matthew A. Cerrato and Steven M. Scherer each came up to take their oaths of office surrounded by their families. Two others, Sgt. James Snow and Det. John Ambrose, were promoted to lieutenant and sergeant, respectively.
Mayor Joseph Pannullo welcomed the newcomers and congratulated them on joining the department, and congratulated Snow and Ambrose on their promotions.

"In this township, we care about every one of our employees, but we have a special place in our hearts for our police officers," Pannullo said, adding the township was "fortunate" to be able to hire four new officers.
The entire East Hanover Police Department was present for the oaths.
