Public information session will be held Tuesday at Hanover Park High School.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation has scheduled a public information meeting for residents to learn more about a project to replace a bridge on Route 10 over the Passaic River.

The information meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hanover Park High School and will include exhibits of the proposed project and NJDOT staff members to answer questions from the public.

The project will replace the entire bridge, which has suffered substantial damage since its original construction in 1931. According to NJDOT, the bridge has "had no major rehabilitation or alteration since its original construction."

Upgrades will also be made on some of the approach roads, including improved asphalt, paving curb and barrier reconstruction, guide rails and drainage.

The project will cost an estimated $4.5 million and will begin in spring 2014. Until the project's completion in fall 2014, traffic will be detoured to Mount Pleasant Avenue.
