Hundreds of children took part in Halloween festivities Monday after they were postponed last week on account of Superstorm Sandy.
Hundreds of Florham Park residents participated in trick-or-treating Monday after the Halloween tradition was postponed last week by Superstorm Sandy.
A cordoned-off section of the Community Center parking lot at the rear of the Municipal Complex had more than 20 tables filled with candy donated by gracious residents, Florham Park Recreation Director Adam Lieb said.
Crossing guards Penny Pryer and Rocco Scanniello guided children and their families to the parking lot, and members of the Florham Park Fire and Police departments provided light from a fire truck, posed for pictures, and helped direct the crowds. Department of Public Works crews assisted with light towers, barricades, and garbage cans.

Popular costumes included princesses, Iron Man, Dracula, and skeletons. More unusual costumes included crayons, a Slurpee cup, and bath puff with soap, Lieb said.
Word of the last-minute event was sent out by the Recreation Department, Police Department, Florham Park School District, Florham Park PTA, Holy Family School, local media outlets and word of mouth. The success of the event was dependent on the spirit of cooperation, community and family, Lieb said.
