3 Teens Carjacked Taxi At Knife-Point In East Windsor: Police

The 15-year-old juveniles were taken into custody on Wednesday and sent to the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center, police said.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — Three teens have been charged in connection with an armed carjacking that took place in East Windsor on June 14, police said Thursday.

Officers responded to Windsor Regency at around 12:54 a.m. on June 14, following reports of a carjacking. The victim, a taxi cab driver, told police that three people approached his vehicle and threatened him with a large knife, ordering him to exit the cab.

They took several of the driver's personal belongings before fleeing in the stolen taxi. Police recovered the abandoned vehicle a short distance from the scene of the crime, authorities said.

Later that morning, another person told police their vehicle was burglarized at the same location.

After an investigation, police took three 15-year-old juveniles into custody on Wednesday. They have been charged with carjacking, robbery, weapons offenses, burglary, theft, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools.

All three were taken to the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center, where they are being held pending court hearings.

No injuries were reported in connection with either incident, police said.
