EAST WINDSOR, NJ — If you’re like many of your East Windsor Township neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.
Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the East Windsor area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
- Rise: The organization helps families and individuals overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential by providing them with services, including non-perishable food, personal products, baby items, household cleaning supplies, coats, books and more.
- Arm In Arm: The Trenton-based organization provides essential resources like food and financial support to families struggling financially.
- Younity: The organization works to prevent abuse, protect families, and change lives through empowerment and a safety net of supportive services. Younity provides quality, compassionate, and nonjudgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault.
- Homefront: HomeFront’s mission is to end homelessness in Central New Jersey by harnessing the caring, resources, and expertise of the community.
- Dress for Success: Dress for Success helps unemployed and underemployed women achieve economic independence by providing no-fee programs, development tools, and professional attire to thrive in work and in life.
