87-Year-Old Woman In Critical Condition After Fiery Crash In West Windsor

Good Samaritans helped remove the woman from the burning car before police could arrive at the scene, authorities said.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ - An 87-year-old West Windsor woman remains in critical condition following a serious two-vehicle collision that resulted in both cars catching fire on Old Trenton Road Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred at 2:17 p.m. on Friday, at the intersection of Old Trenton Road (County Route 535) and Dorchester Drive.

In a critical moment before first responders arrived, Good Samaritans at the scene assisted in removing the woman from her burning 2010 Toyota Camry sedan. The occupants of the second vehicle, a 2024 Porsche Cayenne SUV, had already exited their vehicle by the time patrol units arrived.

East Windsor Fire Department #42 also responded to assist with extinguishing the flames that had spread between the vehicles.

According to the initial investigation, both vehicles were traveling northbound on Old Trenton Road near Dorchester Drive when the collision occurred. For reasons still under investigation, the front of the Toyota Camry made contact with the rear of the Porsche Cayenne SUV.

The impact caused the Camry to catch fire, with flames subsequently spreading to the SUV. The cause of the initial collision remains unknown pending further investigation.

The 87-year-old female driver of the Toyota sustained significant internal injuries in the crash. She was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center at Fuld, where she is currently listed in critical and unstable condition and continues to receive treatment.

The 62-year-old male driver of the Porsche Cayenne, a resident of Monmouth Beach in Monmouth County, sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene. His 26-year-old male passenger, also from Monmouth Beach, was uninjured in the collision.

The West Windsor Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. The identities of the drivers are being withheld pending the ongoing investigation.
