'Little Mermaid Jr.' At Melvin Kreps Middle School Next Weekend

The school's drama club will present two evening shows and one matinee of the Disney classic adaptation.

EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Melvin H. Kreps Middle School Drama Club will perform “Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.” next weekend. The show, adapted from Disney’s Broadway production and the motion picture, will run Jan. 31-Feb. 2 in the middle school auditorium.

Show times are 7 p.m. on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, and 3 p.m. on Feb. 2. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories, “Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.” is a story of two worlds coming together for the sake of love and acceptance.

Gabriella Lewis is directing the show. Meghan King is the Assistant Director/Stage Manager. Jeron Stephens is the Musical Director. Hillary Stryker is the Costume Designer. Kevin Ott is in charge of set design and construction.

Ariel (Ja’Nasia Bright) longs for adventure and has always been fascinated with the idea of leaving her magical underwater kingdom for the land above. After a terrible storm, Ariel saves Prince Eric (Matthew Hupfl) from drowning in the ocean and falls in love with him.

Between her need for adventure and her love of Prince Eric, Ariel chooses to defy her father, King Triton, (Max Letourneau) and make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula (Amy Warsaw). Ursula convinces Ariel that by trading her beautiful voice for legs, she will find forever happiness and adventure with Prince Eric on land.

Ariel’s friends, Flounder (Sammie Strickland), Scuttle (Liam Potter), and Sebastian (Lauren Wargo) try to help her in this adventure, but they face a lot of obstacles that they’d never encountered under the sea.
