Police Shoot Man During Response To Break-In Call In East Windsor: Prosecutor

The incident took place at an abandoned home on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — An East Windsor police officer shot a man during a confrontation at an abandoned house on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

East Windsor Township police were responding to a report of someone breaking into an abandoned home in the 300 block of Etra Road around 12:20 p.m. when they encountered a man, and shots were fired, according to a preliminary investigation by the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.

The man was critically injured and taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center. The officers involved were not physically injured, the MCPO said.

The MCPO is investigating the officer-involved shooting and the New Jersey State Police are assisting the prosecutor's office with processing the scene.
