Princeton's Health Officer To Serve East Windsor On Interim Basis

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — Princeton will continue providing interim health officer services to East Windsor through the end of October under a shared services agreement.

Council approved the resolution for the same during their meeting on Sep. 23.

Jeffrey C. Grosser, Princeton's deputy administrator and health officer, will serve as East Windsor's interim health officer under the agreement, which runs retroactively from July 1 through Oct. 31. The arrangement is a continuation of a previous agreement that began in March.

East Windsor has been without a permanent licensed health officer and is continuing its search for a full-time candidate. Under state law, municipalities must have a licensed health officer to manage essential health services.

During the interim period, East Windsor will continue delivering public health services with its own staff, who will report to Grosser on all public health and statutory matters, the resolution says.

Grosser will coordinate with East Windsor staff and officials to ensure regulatory compliance and public health oversight.

Princeton will receive $1,000 per month for the services, not to exceed $4,000 total. East Windsor can terminate the agreement once it identifies a permanent health officer, at which point it would pay Princeton a prorated portion of the monthly fee, according to a memo from Grosser to council.

"This collaborative effort reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting neighboring communities and strengthening public health infrastructure across Mercer County.," Grosser said.

The agreement was authorized under the Uniform Shared Services and Consolidation Act and follows state Department of Health guidelines for shared public health services.
