Stay Safe And Out Of Trouble This Halloween, Says Mercer Co. Sheriff
Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler shared a safety message with residents ahead of Halloween.
MERCER COUNTY, NJ – Halloween is Tuesday and all you trick-or-treaters must be prepared to have a fun evening.
But it’s important for the evening to be scary for all the right reasons. Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler shared a safety message for residents on Monday, ahead of trick or treating.
He asked residents to pay attention to trick or treaters who will be running from one home to another, gathering treats.

“Trick-or-treaters too often get overexcited and quickly forget about safety. Federal estimates are that children are much more likely to be struck by a motor vehicle on Halloween than on any other date of the year,” Kemler said.
“So, stay on the sidewalks and cross at corners only.”

He advised parents to make children wear reflective clothing and carry a flashlight, glow stick, or a reflective bag.
“It’s not a bad idea for accompanying parents to improve their visibility in the darkness, too. Lastly, all motorists should be extra careful on Halloween evening and try to drive five to ten miles per hour under the speed limit in residential areas,” he said.
