216 Units Deemed Safe Following Edison Senior Housing Complex Fire

Residents from the remaining 24 displaced units continue to have temporary living arrangement, officials said.

EDISON, NJ – A four-alarm fire at a senior housing complex in Edison on Tuesday saw one fatality and several people displaced.

As of Friday, 216 units at the Inman/Grove Senior Citizen Residence have been deemed safe for residents to return, officials said.

Residents from the remaining 24 displaced units continue to have temporary living and food accommodations.

They have been permitted on an as-needed basis to retrieve medication, clothing, and other necessary personal items.

“While the outpour of support received from the community is appreciated, at this time the urgent needs of the residents have been met,” officials said in response to inquiries about extending help.

The Township also concluded its active presence at the Inman/Grove Senior Citizen Residence, as fire watch requirements have been lifted after the sprinkler system and fire alarm system were repaired and tested.

Menlo Manor now has full control and responsibility for the premises.
