NJ Man Faces Murder, Child Endangerment Charges After Fatal Stabbing

Jordan D. Jackson-Small, 35, was charged with first-degree murder, among other charges, in connection with the incident, authorities said.

EDISON, NJ — An Edison man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal stabbing that took place on Sunday, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan said.

Jordan D. Jackson-Small, 35, of Edison, was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the incident, Ciccone said.

Jackson-Small was arrested after authorities received a 911 call at 9:18 a.m. on Sunday reporting a stabbing.

Once officers arrived at a home on Grove Avenue, they found Imani Smith, 26, of Edison, with stab wounds, Ciccone said. Smith was brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

After an investigation by the Edison Police Department and Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, Jackson-Small was arrested, and authorities determined that he and Smith knew each other prior to the incident.

Jackson-Small is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the results of his pre-trial detention hearing.

Investigation into the incident is active and ongoing, Ciccone said.
