50-Mile NJ State Police Chase Led By Vehicle Allegedly Stolen In GA
A vehicle allegedly stolen out of Georgia led New Jersey State Police on a 50-mile chase on the NJ Turnpike last week, officials said.
EDISON, NJ - A vehicle allegedly stolen out of Georgia led New Jersey State Police on a 50-mile chase on the New Jersey Turnpike last week, authorities said.
At approximately 11:51 a.m. on Thursday, state troopers were notified by Georgia State Police of a stolen vehicle traveling northbound on the NJ Turnpike, a New Jersey State Police spokesperson told Patch.
In the area of MP 38.8 near Mount Holly, troopers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the driver didn’t stop, the spokesperson said, prompting state police to use lights and sirens while following the vehicle.

Troopers deployed a tire deflation device on the vehicle and, shortly after, the vehicle veered off the road, struck a concrete barrier and intentionally struck several troop cars, the spokesperson added. The vehicle became disabled near milepost 88.9 in Edison, where troopers were able to arrest the driver.
Israel Bleier, 37, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged with aggravated assault on a trooper, eluding, resisting arrest, and receiving stolen property, state police said.

He was lodged in the Middlesex County Jail pending a detention hearing.
