EDISON, NJ — Eight candidates are seeking to fill three spots on the Edison Board of Education this November.
Monday afternoon marked the deadline for hopefuls to file petitions for candidacy in New Jersey's school board elections.
Board members Joseph Romano, Shannon Peng and Vishal Patel are seeking re-election to the board.

Here are the candidates who filed to run for the Edison Board of Education. Ballot slogans are included if available:
Three-year term
- Sarjil Mansuri
- Taha Shaikh
- Sparshil Patel
- Brian Rivera
- Joseph Romano
- Xiaohan "Shannon" Peng (Students First)
- Vishal Patel (Students First)
- Russell J. Azzarello
The general election will be held on Nov. 4 this year.
