Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy Visits Metuchen Pizzeria

METUCHEN, NJ — One bite, everyone knows the rules.” Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, was in Metuchen recently to try pizza from a local restaurant.

Portnoy stopped by L&L Pizza Restaurant in Metuchen on Oct. 7 for his patented “one bite.”

“He just showed up and tried out the cheese pie,” Lenny Murati, owner, told Patch. “I wasn’t around at the time but I FaceTimed with him later.”

And since Portnoy’s visit, Murati has been inundated with calls. “So many people are calling me because Dave visited us,” Murati said.

L&L Pizza has been in Metuchen for three years and offers New York-style pizza and “authentic Italian cuisine.”

They recently opened two more locations in NJ – Garfield and Morganville.

“I make the best pizza, you know. That’s why Dave stopped by,” Murati said.

And now Murati and his team are eagerly awaiting the review. Portnoy is not new to New Jersey’s dining scene. The “El Presidente” of Barstool Sports has visited and reviewed pizzerias in Raritan, Hoboken, Morris Plains, Bridgewater and other towns.

Portnoy posts daily pizza reviews to millions of social media followers on his YouTube channel - “One Bite Pizza Reviews” and on Instagram.
