Cedar Hill Prep 7th Grader Wins First Place at Chess Championship

A. Mohammed triumphs in the Under 1400 category after a weekend of intense competition

Somerset, NJ – [May 28, 2025] – Cedar Hill Prep School is proud to announce that our 7th grade student A. Mohammed secured first place in the Under 1400 category at the prestigious 79th Annual U.S. East Chess Championship, held over Memorial Day weekend.
The tournament, which drew hundreds of talented young players from across the Northeast U.S., unfolded over two intense days and six highly competitive matches. Mohammed demonstrated exceptional skill and composure, winning five of his six games and drawing the final round—securing the championship title.
