Challenge Your Mind At 'Game On' Day In Metuchen; Visit New Arcade
Whether at a retro arcade or chess board, Downtown Metuchen Alliance Game On day March 9 will exercise your gray matter at area businesses.
METUCHEN, NJ — YESTERcades retro gaming arcade is now open in Metuchen - just in time for a borough "Game On" event on Saturday.
YESTERcades opened Feb. 2 at 42 Main St., the Metuchen Downtown Alliance said. Reach the arcade at its website or at 848-295-4481.
It's an "upscale retro arcade" with 100 arcade/pinball machines, gaming stations, billiards and more, it says.

The arcade is at the former Manasquan Bank site, adjacent to the public park that was donated by the bank. This is the brand’s fourth location with arcades in Somerville, Red Bank, and Westfield.
Mayor Jonathan M. Busch has said that, as someone who spent a lot of time in arcades growing up, welcoming YESTERcades to the borough seems right out of a childhood dream.

“As mayor, your hope is to cultivate a thriving downtown where residents want to spend their time and people from outside the borough want to visit,” Busch has said in past comments. “YESTERcades is that special business that will help achieve that goal.”
Saturday's Game On event is still on for noon to 3 p.m., the MDA said.
Because of the expected rains, all indoor activities will go on, but the Metuchen Downtown Alliance table, Ice Sculptures and Scavenger Hunt will be on Saturday, March 30, said MDA Executive Director Dawn Mackey on Friday.
