A student at J.P. Stevens told Patch that the incident started in her homeroom, when the accused 18-year-old became upset after a break-up with her boyfriend. The teen began screaming at and hitting the boyfriend, the witness said.
"She looked so angry, like I was genuinely scared of her, and she stormed out, and she was screaming and crying," the witness told Patch by text message.
After the student struck the officer, J.P. went into a medical "code blue" while an ambulance crew attended to the officer. The "code blue" started at 8:15 a.m. and lasted about 15 minutes, the witness said.
Superintendent Paul Saxon did not immediately return Patch's request for comment.
Please keep the Edison officer who was struck by a car this morning in your prayers. The officer showed tremendous valor in his actions and we pray for his recovery.
