Developed Solution To Detect Fatal Falls: Edison Star Students
We all know students who excel in academics, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's a local student having an impact in Edison-Metuchen.

EDISON, NJ —Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Madhu who nominated high school juniors Arnuv and Anika of Edison-Metuchen. Arnuv and Anika are childhood friends who came together to develop a low-cost solution that detects fatal fall.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
The two students have taken the initiative to design and develop a low-cost solution that helps detect fatal falls and send automatic alerts —a great tool that can help save lives, especially for senior citizens living alone or within assisted living facilities within the community.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Anika and Arnuv have been friends since kindergarten and even though their career interests are very different (one wants to be a doctor and the other one an engineer), a common thread that brings them together is a strong desire to create practical solutions to everyday problems and to serve the community that they are a part of. Besides being students with stellar academic credentials, what separates Anika and Arnuv from their peers is their ability to dream big and create a path that leads to success. A personal tragedy with one of their friends who lost her grandfather due to an accidental fall in the bathroom and the subsequent delay in getting medical treatment led them to conduct research on the impact of accidental falls, the population that gets impacted and a survey of solutions currently available in the market. Realizing that there is a need for a low-cost, no frills reliable and effective solution, they set about designing and developing the product, created their company Fall-Vision and are now looking to install their prototype in retirement and assisted living facilities. Very rarely do we see two teenagers build something ground-up which will serve not just their local community but people across the state, and this is what makes Anika and Arnuv unique and special.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Arnuv and Anika!
