Edison Approves $1M For Purchase Of Fire Truck

The truck will be housed at Fire Station 2 on Route 27.

EDISON, NJ — Council recently adopted a resolution authorizing the purchase of a fire pumper truck for $1 million.

The truck will be housed at Fire Station 2 on Route 27, close to the Edison Municipal Complex.

Council awarded the contract to Spartan Fire LLC in Brandon, North Dakota for the purchase of the truck. Spartan Fire LLC is a subsidiary of REV Group Inc.

“The total amount of this contract shall not exceed $1,046,284.00,” according to the resolution.

“I think this is great that we are able to upgrade our infrastructure in this capacity, councilman John Poyner said.

The Edison Division of Fire is a combination Fire Department with a total of 145 career and 40 volunteer firefighters and officers.

Career personnel are assigned to six fire stations throughout the Township with 32 on-duty personnel 24 hours/365 days a year, utilizing seven fire pumpers, two aerial trucks, and two rescue trucks and support vehicles.

The Volunteer Fire Companies respond from two fire stations. The Division responded to calls for service in 2022 including 70 structure fires, 62 Rescues, 280 vehicle accidents, and 1152 First responder medical calls.

Edison’s Fire Prevention Bureau with a personnel of one fire official and five fire inspectors is responsible for 1000 life hazard use occupancies.
